Stephanie Barba Mendoza founded her London-based interior design studio in 2020. Leading an experienced team and connected to an international network of creatives and artisans, she has established a rich vision, characterised by a distinct sense of vibrancy and opulence. Her global portfolio encompasses a range of projects, which include private homes in London, Antwerp and Miami, hospitality ventures in Lisbon, Vienna and Amsterdam, a club in the heart of Mexico City and a private members club in Vietnam.
Renowned for creating deeply bespoke, sensory spaces that stand the test of time, Stephanie Barba Mendoza’s work has been recognised internationally in publications such as Architectural Digest, the Financial Times, House & Garden and WSJ. Born and raised in Mexico, Stephanie previously spearheaded global design projects at Martin Brudnizki Design Studio for a decade.
THE FOUNDER
Stephanie has honed a unique approach to design, drawing on diverse reference points to fuse high with low, contemporary with antique, and the simple with the ornate. Her work is characterised by an ability to produce interiors that both surprise and inspire yet remain true to the context of each space and client brief.
Stephanie’s influences extend beyond the parameters of design, and she is inspired by creative personalities across various disciplines. Citing fashion editor Diana Vreeland, musicians Freddie Mercury and David Bowie, and artists René Magritte and Pedro Friedeberg as inspirations for her work, Stephanie often draws from those known to push boundaries to the limit. United by a rejection of conformity and an ability to curate their own worlds, these trailblazers mirror Stephanie’s philosophy of challenging the rules to develop and construct interiors that encourage escapism and fantasy.
