Housed within Vienna's historic former post office in the heart of the 1st district, Wilde Vienna Fleischmarkt transforms a landmark building into a vibrant, contemporary destination.
Drawing directly from the radical creative milieu of the Viennese Secession and Wiener Werkstätte, the Studio's design channels Vienna's rebellious artistic heritage into a bold, modern hospitality experience. Inspired by "Stuben" — meaning a cosy living room — Stephanie Barba Mendoza crafted a series of warm, welcoming gathering spaces that balance respect for the building's historic architecture with playful, design-forward interventions.
In the restaurant, Rascal, sculptural brass wall lights, rich red and blue leather seating and a hand-painted chequered border reference the decorative language of traditional Viennese coffee houses, while intricate fretwork on the bar front draws from Secessionist jewellery. Throughout the public spaces, a curated mix of commissioned artworks — spanning large-scale murals, woven textiles and abstract paintings — reinforces the sense of Wilde as a home away from home, where art and everyday life coexist.
