A deeply personal homecoming, El Desconocido marks the Studio's first project in Mexico City since establishing in London — and its first collaboration with Stephanie's brother, Alejandro alongside his life and creative partner Arantza, who conceived the club's esoteric concept and curates its music, food and art.
Located in Roma Norte, El Desconocido is a cultural club that brings together music, gastronomy and art within a storied building at the heart of one of the city's most celebrated neighbourhoods. Drawing on the area's architectural contrasts and elusive spirit, the Studio's design language is rooted in mysticism and symbolism — part temple, part listening room, part nocturnal salon.
A tactile and opulent material palette unfolds across the space: velvet drapery, antique mirrors and brass detailing set a tone of quiet intrigue on arrival, while high-gloss lacquered walls and ceilings catch and distort light throughout. In the central hi-fi bar, eucalyptus veneer joinery pairs with a jaguar print wallpaper honouring the animal's divine significance in Aztec and Maya culture, and private rooms on the second floor deepen the club's mysticism through malachite wallpaper, velvet banquettes and curated antiques.
